The Four CDs
When Alex Hutchinson financed the production of his own CD's, his faith in himself and his public proved justified - the CD's sold out. It will please many to hear they are once again available and can be ordered directly from this site. (see Contact Alex)

Clarinet Love Affair Alex Hutchinson Quartet Clarinet LOVE AFFAIR is Alex Hutchinson's latest CD released in December 2007. He is joined by Mark Fitzgibbon piano, Geoff Kluke bass, Sonja Horbelt and Dave Beck drums, the result... "a swinging jazz outing with plenty of imagination, integrity and individualism. If in the past you have flirted with saxes and had flings with piano trios, consider a new adventure, a clarinet love affair. Alex and the gang are just the musicians to make it happen." Steve Robertson PBS-FM's Jazz on Saturday. |

The Goodman Touch Alex Hutchinson Quartet Playing with visiting performers, blowing on sessions ranging from Dixie to Bebop and beyond, Alex does it all; but I know his very favourite thing is to front a small combo of the very best players, working over some of the all-time great tunes on his beloved 1961 Selmer clarinet. And that's what we have right here on, amazingly, Alex's very first recording as a leader, The Goodman Touch. Ralph Rickman |

The Tassie Connection Alex Hutchinson Quartet featuring Jack Duffy It has always been my penchant to record with an accordion & though it took nearly fifty years of my career for it to happen, this wish came to fruition, thanks to Jack Duffy. One of the giants of Tasmanian jazz, Jack was an octogenarian when this, his first CD was recorded, providing a rare opportunity to record with a jazz accordionist of Jack's calibre and achieve that wonderful blend of accordion and clarinet. Stompin' at the Savoy Alex Hutchinson with Mickey Tucker & friends A thoroughly delightful recording of jazz standards by a collection of Melbourne's - no, Australia's - most well known and talented musicians. They are led by the marvelous clarinetist Alex Hutchinson and on hearing the beautiful sound he makes it's immediately obvious that there are many years of playing and careful listening behind it. There really is no substitute for experience. Tony Gould |
